“IMF – get out of Greece,” yelled about 7,000 Germans in Frankfurt, in a protest against Europe’s austerity policies.
On June 2, the second day of protests in Frankfurt, the German police tried to dissolve the thousands of anti-capitalist demonstrators from the Blockupy movement with pepper spray and batons.
About 7,000 demonstrators participated in the rallies and many of them marched with signs reading “Make love, not war” and “IMF – get out of Greece.”
The protest was peaceful at the beginning, but then small groups of masked protesters threw stones and smoke bombs at the police who responded with force. Many protesters were hurt.
